So this week group we talked about Digital Storytelling as a form of assistance in your classroom lessson. I have been thinking how I could use this type of project in my Health Education classroom. I am a little stuck trying to see how I could use this. After viewing the Powerpoint Presentations. The examples given and especially the website listed below. I really understand how it could be use in other classes other than mine. I know it has to be a way for me ti use it in Health Education if I begin to think outside the box, and not think about my limited class time. Unfourtanatley I only have my students for quarters which range from 40-45 days. I dont know, but I will definetly keep thinking.

I can think of a couple ways.
ReplyDeleteA storyboard about choices. When they leave school, what options do they have? What do they eat/do. and are there healthier options?
Or cause and effect. If I live/move/eat this way now, later I may be healthy/sick/etc.
They could even make a short storyboard as a small group and then act it out, which should keep them very engaged. Bothof these ideas be at the end of a unit to demonstrate comprehension and application.

Oh ok. I like that, I can really see that. Like a continued story and pictures of eating bad.
ReplyDeleteI recently read an article for another class about graphic novels and story comics...the link is http://www.arteducators.org/news/national-convention/RachelWilliams_Image_Text_and_Story_Comics_and_Graphic_Novels_in_the_Classroo.pdf. Basically they follow the same idea of digital story telling. The article stresses that the main benefit to using these in th classroom is engagement. Whether students are viewing them or creating them, they are learning in a highly engaged way.
